Inspired by the daily life of people in the city, with no time to wait or slow down to observe their surroundings.
Bio:
Tshepo Moloi was born in (Johannesburg 1992) but grew up in the rural place of Mpumalanga(Daggakraal). In 2004, He moved back to Johannesburg, to pursue and finish his high school career. In 2015, He became interested in photography and filmmaking, He then started photographing and experimenting around his community. In 2016, he was part of a group show (‘Fluxus Now’ by Space Space Gallery, Johannesburg). In 2018, showcased with (‘Howdy’ by Space Space Gallery, Switzerland). In 2019, he joined Through The Lens Collective where he completed narrative and advanced photographic course and participated in the group exhibitions (The Portrait Show), (‘Spring Exhibition’, Julie Miller Art, Johannesburg), (‘awayfromthekeyboard.gif’, A4 Arts Foundation, Cape Town), BUZZART19, (KZNSA Gallery, Durban). In 2020, He participated in the following group exhibitions, (The Portrait Show by Through The Lens Collective, Johannesburg), (‘The Precarity of Spectacle’ by Michaelis School of Fine Art, Cape Town). (‘Beauty/?’ by K.L.8, Belgium), Kampala Art Biennale(Uganda). In 2021 was chosen for an artist career development programme by Turbine Art Fair (Unearthed), University of Johannesburg, Making and Interpreting Art, Fesfoto (Brasil), The Makeable Minds, Noordelitch international photo festival, Amsterdam), Through The Lens Collective and Studio Nxumalo, Open City FNB art fair. His work was published on Africanah.org (Amsterdam), Mail & Guardian (Johannesburg) and had a photographic talk (‘Pretoria Street Photography, 2019). Tshepo Moloi, is a Johannesburg based documentary and street photographer who focuses on topics such as migration, belonging, identity, community and its subthemes.
