ASHLEY WALTERS, UNTITLED
Project : FEAR
‘Your daily dose of ultra-violence,’ a term coined by Anthony Burgess in A Clockwork Orange, has become a lived reality—where submission to its presence defines normalcy. In my community, survival demands adopting the guise of an instigator, navigating an anarchic landscape where hope clings to the notion that tomorrow
might be as merciful as today. Bodies scatter, seeking refuge from home invasions in an upside-down non-space. The world, like a recurring dream, appears tinted red—unforgiving and ruthless. This image forms part of a series of self-portraits, I capture fleeting moments lived in an unpredictable place I call home. The photograph was made using pinhole photography combined with physical transparencies.
