Tombe is inspired by the Zulu word ‘isithombe’, meaning a photograph.

Tombe Magazine is an online platform focused on promoting photography from Africa and its diaspora through media, exhibitions and collaborations. We are committed to spotlighting excellent lens-based storytelling from both established and emerging photographers on the continent and beyond.

Across our projects, we aim to transcend international borders and develop a sustainable environment to discourse, share knowledge and cultivate an inclusive community. Our bi-monthly digital publication is the portal into the ever-evolving photography landscape in Africa.
