HAFSA BORAEI - UNTITLED
Hafsa Boraei a Sudanese photographer and filmmaker born in Benghazi, Libya,1990 and currently residing in Egypt. She holds a master's degree in Communication Sciences from the University of Sudan and graduated from the Postcards from Cairo Photography Workshop.
Hafsa began her photography career in 2020, motivated by the December Revolution, and has since worked as a freelance photojournalist and documentary photographer. Her work focuses on public issues, particularly the role of women in revolutions and society, with an emphasis on social justice and human rights.
Her projects include documenting the impact of the Sudanese war on displaced people and refugees in Egypt, as well as highlighting the experiences of Sudanese women managing small family-run businesses. Hafsa has photographed inside the largest displacement camps in Sudan and various camps in Darfur and Kordofan, capturing real-life moments of resilience and identity.
In 2022, she held her first solo exhibition about women during the 16 Days of Activism against Gender-Based Violence and participated in the 'City Life: Resilience' group photography exhibition. Her work aims to amplify the voices of marginalized communities, particularly women, and explores themes of displacement, identity, and revolution through a direct and unfiltered visual storytelling style.
